Christ Lutheran School
Teachers 2003-2004

Getting to know the CLS Staff...

The Lord has blessed us with a staff of wonderful, dedicated teachers at Christ Lutheran School. Each one of these women has a heart for children and a commitment to serving Jesus. We'd like you to know a little more about them, so we've given you a mini-biography for each teacher. Their accomplishments and contributions, however, are certainly far greater than what we have room to list here.

Mrs. Gloria Hoover -- Kindergarten
Mrs. Hoover grew up on a Jersey dairy farm in Menomonie, Wisconsin and graduated from high school there. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in education and learning disabilities for elementary and middle school students. Gloria previously taught at Christ Lutheran School about five years ago. Some of the parents and older students may remember her or may have had her for a teacher. She said just walking into the building again brought back a flood of fond memories. We're pleased she decided to return to our school.

Mrs. Jane Sykora -- First Grade
Mrs. Sykora is originally from Bloomer, Wisconsin where she grew up in a Christian home with parents who were very involved in church activities. Early in life she put her faith in Jesus and the Bible as the inerrant Word of God. She earned her degree from Bethel Bible College in St. Paul MN and has over ten years of experience teaching in Christian schools in the Eau Claire/Chippewa Falls area. Many of you may already know her from her involvement with the Barnabas Christian Coffee House in downtown Chippewa Falls. Jane has been a youth leader in her church and has most recently taught school age children and two-year-olds at the YMCA in Chippewa Falls. She lives with her husband Bill, and son, Brenden. We are very fortunate to have her with us at CLS.
Ms. Kelly Hayes -- Second Grade
Ms. Hayes is one of our returning staff members and we are very pleased that she has chosen to join us once again as our second grade teacher. Kelly attended UW-Stout as a Child Development and Family Life major. Her classroom is truly a place of learning. There is something wonderful, fun, and different going on in every corner of the room. Be careful -- Kelly usually has a camera as she captures all of the memories that go on throughout the school. She has lived in Chippewa Falls almost all of her life. She lives with her son, Dustin, who is a freshman in college this year.

Crystal moved from New York as a senior Education major at SUNY Cortland, and graduated from UW-Eau Claire with a degree in Comprehensive English Literature. She taught numerous creative writing workshops for the Gifted and Talented program in three Eau Claire middle schools. Crystal lives in Chippewa Falls with her husband, Steven, and two children. They are members of Chippewa Valley Bible Church. Her daughter, Kahlan, is a first grade student this year at Christ Lutheran School. She is looking forward to a fun and enriching year at CLS.

She is Wisconsin certified in grades 5-12 and has taught both in the Osseo-Fairchild School District and the Eau Claire School District. Emily is recently married and lives in Eau Claire with her husband, Michael. They like to bike, rollerblade, take walks and make new kinds of foods. They are both youth leaders in their church and enjoy working with people of all ages. Emily is looking forward to a fun year of learning. Her students are fortunate to be able to take advantage of her creativity and energy. We are grateful that the Lord has led Emily to be with us this year.
